Meet the Board

  • Amy Yahna

    FOUNDER, DIRECTOR, BOARD PRESIDENT

Amy grew up on a small farm surrounded by nature and animals, including horses, in Oregon. She’s owned, cared for, and ridden horses since the age of five!

After moving to the East Coast and graduating college, she owned and operated her own holistic health center in Pennsylvania for 10 years.

In 2001, Amy and her partner Brian moved to Brian’s family farmstead in Central New York, to owned and operate a farm and artisan bakery.

After rescuing Justin Thyme in 2015, Amy learned the plight of racehorses and the countless horses in need of rescue after retiring from the track. She founded Hope Springs Eternal in October 2015 to rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt horses in need.

Amy is excited to offer a portion of her and Brian’s farm to Hope Springs Eternal Horse Sanctuary, and is looking forward to sharing her passion for holistic healing and the power of horses in future Equine Therapy programs and communion with horses.

  • Brian Musician

    CO-FOUNDER, BOARD SECRETARY

Brian was born and raised on his family farm in Central New York. A portion of that farm is now the home of Hope Springs Eternal.

Brian left the farm to attend college in Pennsylvania. Upon graduating, Brian taught high school biology and coached for eight years.

After teaching, Brian owned and operated a large, multi-line insurance agency in Pennsylvania for 30 years.

In 2001, Brian joined Amy to build their farm and bakery.

Brian is excited about the prospects for helping people and animals form mutually beneficial relationships.

  • Amanda Taranto

    BOARD VICE PRESIDENT

Amanda grew up loving and riding horses in Central New York. At 11 years old she had the privilege of meeting her heart horse, Gordon, who taught her what it really meant to love a horse, and confirmed that horses would always have a special place in her life.

Amanda joined the HSE team in 2022 as a volunteer. She helps with general horse care, sanctuary communications, web development, and other administrative duties to help the sanctuary thrive. Fun fact: It took a year for Justin Thyme to accept that she was here to stay, but still likes to challenge her on the regular.

When she’s not volunteering, Amanda is working her day job as a retail and marketing director at a not-for-profit, snuggling her pup Erin, or spending time with her family.
